Marisa’s (she/her) was introduced to yoga through elementary school P.E class and she returned to it through drop-in classes and gym sessions in college. The practice became a solace during her postgraduate year of service as a life in support staff at homeless shelter. Her experiences shape how she teaches.
She grounds her classes in yoga's roots and builds in options so every body feels safe and seen in the room. She weaves yogic philosophy into her sequencing so the practice carries off the mat and into daily life, relationships, and community. Marisa brings levity and play into the room to keep it supportive and encouraging. Her cueing blends somatic and alignment-based approaches, giving students space to observe, respond, and connect with their bodies.
Marisa completed her 200-hour training with Nikki McMaster-Martorano and her 50-hour Rooted in Respect: Yoga Ethics Teacher Training with Angie Tiwari, founder of Unearthed Yoga
