Intro to Ashtanga: Discovering Primary Series

  • Boston Yoga Union 364 Boylston Street Boston, MA, 02116 United States (map)

Over the course of three weekends, students will become familiar with and build confidence around the primary series of ashtanga. The first weekend will go over the theory behind the primary series, break down key poses and transitions of the opening, standing, and closing portions, and end with an abbreviated practice (45 min). Weekend two will focus on the mechanics of jumping through, jumping back, seated postures and their modifications, and end with a half led primary (60 minutes). Weekend three will be a full lead primary (90 minutes) followed by pranayama and time for questions and reflection.

Meet Natalie

Natalie is a farmer, in life and in her teaching. She finds joy in being an assistant to growth, whether it’s through caring for plants in the garden or helping individuals thrive in their yoga practice. Natalie is dedicated to the cultivation of student’s self discovery, curiosity, empowerment, and joy, because that’s what yoga has provided for her. Natalie practices yoga everyday to ground herself in appreciation and to remind her that life is fun.

Natalie completed her 200hr training at South Boston Yoga under David Vendetti and Todd Skoglund. She went on to study at Boston Yoga Union for her 300hr under Tim Kelleher, Emily Jonas, and Caitlyn Visconte. Natalie believes wholeheartedly in approaching everything with a beginner mindset; treating everyone as your teacher and every moment as an opportunity to listen and grow.

Natalie’s classes are challenging because she believes in the strength and resilience of her students. Her sequences are dynamic, powerful, and light-hearted with a fluidity that provides the opportunity for students to shift their awareness in and observe their true nature.
