Flow Low & Fly High Series

  • Boston Yoga Union 364 Boylston Street Boston, MA, 02116 United States (map)

Flow Low
An exploration of transitions gliding low to the floor. We will discuss how the joint spaces can prevent barriers to depth, how to utilize props to improve efficiency, and how to build strength in your end ranges of motion. No former yoga experience required.

Fly High
In these sessions we will break down the mechanics of arm balancing and discover how you can connect postures seamlessly. Towards the end of the series, there will be opportunities to link several arm balances in succession. This format will challenge your stamina and present lots of opportunity for playfulness and investigation of your body's potential. Recommended for practitioners who regularly attend vinyasa classes.

Meet Aquila

Aquila discovered her love of yoga initially because she was a dancer. At first she came to the practice from a lens of self improvement to gain more flexibility and lung endurance. She attended classes with her mother, and it became a special weekly ritual. She soon realized the ways in which she would benefit from the practice were not at all to do with the physical body. Yoga became a space in which she could move and connect with her mind in a more playful and accepting container. It was an hour a day to quiet the inner voices of perfectionism and pressure while still nourishing her body with the satisfaction of the physical practice.

In Aquila's class you can expect a creative and rigorous sequence that familiarizes you with movement patterns and transitions before building toward more options for exploration. She structures her classes with the origin of her yoga practice in mind, striving to offer classes that a variety of practitioners can perform and feel empowered. Offering challenges in tandem with accessibility and inviting practitioners to choose the variation that best suits them.
