Boston Yoga Union welcomes Tias Little this Summer for a day of immersive theory, practice and learning. Join us for two workshops designed to transform not only on physical levels, but also in the realms of the psyche and the heart.
Yoga Somatics for the Fluid Body - Sunday, September 7 at 10:00AM-12:00PM
As we age, it is essential to stay fluid in both mind and body. In this practice we support greater flow through our bloodstream, lymph channels, and spine. This practice is a powerful tonic to help reduce fatigue, strain, and compression in the body. Somatic movements act as a “prana pump” to oxygenate the bloodstream and irrigate all the tissues. Through rocking, pumping, sliding and stretching movements we practice to uncover the inherent vitality within. Rather than learning movement from the "outside in" we emerge from the inside out, sensing inherent movement and identifying barriers to flow. Through movement, stillness, sound and visualization, we explore ways to support our nervous system, glandular system and circulatory flow.
Finding the Sweet Spot - Sunday, September 7 at 2:00-4:00PM
Inside every pose there a place of balance that opens all the connective tissues of the body. Thus any given pose requires precise alignment and right tension so that when the bones, joints and fascia harmonize, the nervous system can let go and the breath move freely. In this class we practice finding the “sweet spot” in each pose. However, everyone’s structure is unique. Thus the orientation of the bone and movement of the fascia is different for each person. In this class, we individualize the practice, tailoring each pose to help best optimize the flow of prana inside. With manual assist and individual guidance, Surya and Tias provide support for each student in their practice.
